4. Should a student not be diligent in music preparation, rehearsal preparation (ensemble rehearsal skills) or marching preparation during the Concert or Marching Band season, the Director of Bands/Artistic Director is at liberty to remove the privilege of participating in any given performance.
5. Students, in the select Wind Symphony, are expected to travel with the ensemble to all concerts, special invitations and other performances determined by the Director of Bands/Artistic Director. The Director of Bands/Artistic Director will ensure, through the addition of students, a full ensemble at all times in the Wind Symphony.
Attendance Policies
1. All performances and rehearsals are mandatory. In the event of an emergency, the Director of Bands/Artistic Director must be contacted and legal absence must be established. Unexcused absences will result in the lowering of the student's grade. Excessive absences may result in the loss of performance and/or membership in the performing organization.
2. All students are expected to notify the director at least two weeks in advance, in writing, of a request for an excused absence from any rehearsal. This request must be in writing from a parent or guardian and given, in person, to the Director of Bands/Artistic Director for approval. A meeting must take place between the student and Director of Bands/Artistic Director to discuss the request. The Director of Bands'/Artistic Director's decision will be final.
3. In the event that the student belongs to a non-LHS organization which may be appearing, rehearsing or meeting during the same time, the LHS group will take preference. All conflicts, or potential conflicts must be discussed with the Director of Bands/Artistic Director. Excuses will be reviewed and accepted at the discretion of the Director of Bands/Artistic Director.
4. Illness is, of course, excused if the student is absent from school that day, or has a note from his/her parent or guardian.
5. Part time employment is not an excused absence from any rehearsal or performance in whole, or in part.
6. Homework and/or other LHS meetings is not an excused absence from any rehearsal or performance. All conflicts must be discussed with the Director of Bands/Artistic Director to find a solution. Excuses will be reviewed and accepted or rejected at the discretion of the Director of Bands/Artistic Director.
7. Absence from a rehearsal, in whole or in part, will constitute a "missed" rehearsal and will be subject to the aforementioned attendance policies.
